![]() Fred was caught in the blast, either by accident or intentionally by Niles who is corrupted by the God Box, and he dies as a result, hence their universe was dying with him. Using this new power, Niles somehow managed to open a rift between their universe and the God Box wih multiple, powerful beams being discharged everywhere. Despite it not saying anything, Niles reacts to it as if it replies, to which he agrees with whatever it told him but says that he'll need more power to pull it off, to which the box responds by granting him more power, which serves to only poison him further as he begins to show signs of psychopathy. However, the God Box's corruption over Niles only worsens as his mind suddenly becomes warped and he begins to believe that to fix himself, he must make not only himself, but his entire universe "perfect" and thus asks the box how to accomplish this. Suddenly, images of the God Box begin flashing in his mind's eye as its corruption begins to infect him and he uses SMG0's Guardian Pod to go confront his creator, demanding to know what was wrong with him. Despite enjoying his life with his partner and avatar, Niles began to feel something was wrong as he began seeing visions of a mutated version of himself with his eye and arm both appearing corrupted. With help from their new friend, SMG0 and Fred created the Internet Graveyard to cleanse the corrupted memes and set things right in their universe again. ![]() He prayed to the God Box to fix his universe, and that was when he met Niles, who was born from the box itself. Several years ago, sometime before the events of the first episode, SMG0's Guardian Pod took him to the God Box. This is where Luke keeps his "broken PC stuff", namely hard drives containing old memes (anti-memes) and corrupted games (destroyed universes). In real life, it is simply a cardboard box with a similar but simplified symbol drawn in black marker on the front. Inside is a dark chasm containing anti-memes and pieces of corrupted universes that were possibly destroyed by Niles in his Eldritch SMG0 form. It has a symbol in the middle, comprising the number "0" in the middle of a square inside another square. The God Box is a massive black rectangular box with a base and red outline. ![]() 3 Destroyed universes inside the God Box.He would have succeeded had it not been for the selfless interference and self-sacrifice of SMG0 to stop him, just as the God Box was incinerated in a giant, final explosion. ![]() SMG1 and SMG2 tried to close the box, only to realize that it was impossible and that the only way to stop it from annihilating everything was to destroy it by using a supercharged meme energy bomb that caused the God Box to begin falling apart from the inside out as Niles attempted to drag Mario and the others down into the dying God Box with him. In the SMG4 Movie: REVELATIONS, the God Box was opened by Niles after he possessed Melony in order to use her to reach the box, causing its power to spill out and threatened to destroy Mario's universe in order to prevent this, Mario and the Super Meme Guardians followed after the possessed Melony to close the God Box and bring her home. Some such as the Box Club believed it to hold unlimited power while others like SMG1 and SMG2 feared the box and saw it as a bringer of evil and destruction that could eradicate the universe. It served as the central plot device for the Revelations Arc, as well as the SMG4 Cosmology Lore and the series as a whole due it being the source behind the corruption of memes and what led to the creation of the virus Niles, granting him the power to assimilate others such as SMG0 and Axol.ĭespite being known of by multiple sources, nobody truly understood what the God Box was or why it existed. It was a mysterious object located in The Great Beyond and was the religious icon of the Box Club's worship. The God Box was a minor but pivotal antagonist in the SMG4 series, specifically being the overarching antagonist of The SMG4 Cosmology Lore trilogy.
